Looking for EP

A friend has friends coming in town who want to eat a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich. She called the Arcade and was told they could get one there, even though it’s not on the menu. Any other ideas?

A snack for the King

reeses.JPGIt didn’t appeal to me, but the folks up here who tried the new Reese’s Peanut Butter and Banana Cup (King size, of course!) that came in the mail today gave it a hunka-hunka thumbs up. (Including Michael Donahue, who took the picture of the cool car the candy came in.)

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Elvis’ death and I guess in tribute I’ll need to pull out the Elvis cookbooks we have around here and see if anything sounds good. Meanwhile, if you’re a fan of peanut butter and banana (my dad loved PB&B sandwiches, too), grab a new Reese’s–you could win prizes like a trip for four to Memphis (surely you know someone you want to invite) a scarf owned by Elvis; a cancelled check signed by Elvis; and Elvis-themed sunglasses and license plates.

In addition, one lucky grand-prize winner will ride like The King in an overhauled, totally redesigned custom Reese’s Elvis Tribute Car built by car-crafting legend Boyd Coddington. The 1957 Cadillac is inspired by Elvis’ pink Cadillac and includes all the upgrades and features of a 2007 custom hot rod. Featuring a television, satellite radio, MP3 compatibility, GPS and a mini-refrigerator stocked with Reese’s Elvis Cups, the Reese’s Elvis Tribute Car is rock-star ready.

And oh yes, that last graf came straight from the press release…

Saw an ad for the 11th annual Elvis Invitationals at the Experience Music Project Friday at the Seattle Center… with backup by the Memphis Mafia band!! Special emcee: DJ Leslie!! Not me… maybe I’ll be there… course, my favorite ETA (Elvis Tribute Artist, that is): Radford Ellis, E Factor, his pic above. He’s a hunka hunka… Second fave: my bro in Maui!

Ewwwwwww!

Just got this press release from White Castle:

Here’s what you need to turn your Thanksgiving meal into a meal everyone will be craving.

Recipe for White Castle Turkey Stuffing

10 White Castle hamburgers, no pickles
1 ½ tsp. ground sage
1 ½ cups celery, diced
¾ tsp. coarse ground black pepper
1 ¼ tsp. ground thyme
¼ cup chicken broth

In a large mixing bowl, tear the burgers into pieces and add diced celery and seasonings. Toss and add chicken broth. Stuff cavity of turkey just before roasting. Recipe makes about 9 cups (enough for a 10 to 12 pound turkey) Note: Allow one (1) hamburger for each pound of turkey, which is the equivalent of ¾ cup of stuffing per pound.

Anybody game??

TCB…

Did you hear about “American Idol” contestants in Memphis? Guess they’re doing an all-E show and going to tour Graceland…

Which has absolutely nothing to do with the random collection of bites I’m serving up… but I’m TCB… (as in Taking Care of Business… I know not everybody knows what that stands for…)

Cafe Society’s now serving Sunday brunch. (And if you don’t have your Mother’s Day Brunch reservations… no matter where you’re going… better get on the horn, pronto!)

Meditrina is now doing dinners… at 83 Union.

Washington Street Bistro in Collierville has changed up its menu. Oh, that Tandoori Crawfish pasta looks great! Call 901-850-1470 for reservations.

Heard there’s a new place in Collierville run by a chef from New Orleans, Pasta Italia… anybody been?

High Point Coffee has opened in Midtown… on Union.

Quetzal is going to add a pizza oven, and beef up its evening menu. It will also install a bar. You can order their outstanding coffee beans online at quetzalcoffee.com.

Just in time for prime grilling time, wine guru John Vego will give tasters the lowdown on 12 great wines for BBQ season from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 13 at the Tower Room at the American Grille at Clark Tower, 5100 Poplar. It’s free!

Have a great weekend… I’ll be writing about my eating adventures in NYC!
