Your family drink

I thought I was strong, thought I was able to say no and mean it, but with a truly lovely and very persuasive family gathered round chanting “Go! Go! Go!”, I tried my first Jagerbomb yesterday. It will be my last! I managed to get about half of it down–it’s an ounce of Jagermeister surrounded by Red Bull in the special cup shown here–but that was it. Still, hey, I tried, and there’s a picture of it somewhere that my daughter can’t wait to get her hands on.

I’m writing about the Courts family, which won the Patio Porker category at the MIM Barbecue, and this is their family drink for cookouts (for the adults, of course). We have one in our family, too: The mango daiquiri (or sometimes a mojito). What about your crew? What’s the adult drink of choice when y’all haul out the grill?

My personal favorite, especially for the ladies in our family is a chocolate martini. Mix equal parts Vodka, Baileys, and Kahlua over ice in a shaker. Add ice, and shake vigorously. Pour into chilled martini glass, and garnish with dark chocolate shavings. I usually save it for desert, but it’s a great departure from the white wine that usually accompanies us on the patio.

Speaking of whites, there’s a new Spanish Albarino available called Nora. It’s an excellent bottle of wine that is a great summertime patio wine. Hints of citrus, grass, and a slight mineral finish makes it very refreshing. Thanks to Scott and the guys at the Wine Market for introducing me to it!

You go girl….Jagermeister is the only know cure for about 273 different disease’s. it also makes your hair grow, removes paint and glue from walls tan’s leather and removes warts. It’s a miracle liqueur. It also is good with 1 shot of amaretto and a shot of jager, then fill the glass with orange juice and ice. I know, I know, it sounds wild, but it is delicious. The great summer wine for me , if you are out on the patio, is the Broadbent Vinho Verde. Light, effervescent, with flavors of lemon and lime peel. A true thirst quenching wine for a hot day.

Irish Nut:

Equal parts Bailey’s (Irish) and Frangelico (Hazelnut). It’s truly addicting.

You just can’t go wrong with a good IPA on a warm summer night…

Do adults actually drink Jagger? I hand that crap out to kids on Halloween. “kid, go home find your dad’s gun and be somebody”

In my family the ladies drink Cosmos and the men drink Crown on the rocks.

Or you could try the traditional New Year’s drink at a Toronto pub called Kilgour’s (on Bloor Street.) Fill a blender half full of Jagermeister and fill the rest of the way up with . . . . . . wait for it . . . . Vienna Sausages. Blend (add mustard if desired . . .) . . . . .
