I’m running a wire story about hot dogs next week and I want to include favorite places in town for a good dog. I like Jimmy’s in Bartlett–the plain ol’ Chicago-style is my fave. Tell me where you go.

Check out Paul Ryburn’s blog. He talked about a hot dog stand @ Court Square today. It is called the Hot Dog Factory. They have a Memphis BBQ dog among other things.

Autozone Park. There’s nothing like a ball game and a dog. No ketchup nazis at the ballpark either.

just a note for the veggies out there. i was pleasantly suprised on my last trip to Autozone Park a few weeks ago to discover veggie dogs at the gourmet food stand. now if they’d just had some veggie chili for me to put on it, it would have been perfect!

What is a ketchup nazi?
I don’t understand why anyone would pay to eat a hotdog anyplace other than home. Can someone explain it to me? Of course my opinion is probably a little colored by having a high school boyfriend who used to serve corn dogs at the park and made a game of trapping as many flies in the batter as possible. No food carts with underpaid employees for me, thanks!

Oh, I was just being silly. There are droves of people who think that putting ketchup on a hot dog is a sin…many from Chicago I understand. But please, don’t listen to me as I can’t stand sour kraut or any pickleish thing on a hot dog.

Obleo’s downtown used to be a fun place to eat hotdogs. You could get stuff like potato salad & baked beans ON the hotdogs, but they didn’t have side orders of the same toppings to eat WITH the hotdogs. That was definitely one to eat w/a knife & fork. I can remember growing up when we used to eat hotdogs raw - it’s a wonder we ever made it to adulthood.

The hotdogs at Bryant Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa are pretty hard to beat! They’re topped with some kind of sauce (it may just be mustard and ketchup mixed together) and topped with kraut….whatever it is, its delicious. And the football’s pretty good too. Roll Tide! ![]()

i love a chicago style dog. is there anyplace further south than jimmy’s to get one? maybe somewhere a little more authentic? go to chicago and you won’t find a good place that has white walls covered in newspaper clippings…
