Stephanie sent me an e-mail wanting to know where she can get crawfish: “Not at a restuarant, I know plenty of restaurants that are selling them now, but the bagged, hot, sold by the pound kind you take home and pour over newspaper. I went to college in Louisiana and haven’t found anything of the sort since I’ve come home. Any help would be greatly appreciated!”
Can anyone help her?

There’s a new place at G’town Parkway and Trinity, I think…maybe a second location for the guy at Goodman?

Sorry for the length. I haven’t tried the crawdaddies yet.
From CA on 12/25:
…a business that will start selling crawfish at Germantown Parkway and Trinity Road in February.
The kiosk will operate February through June on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 7 p.m. The company already has a trailer at a gas station lot on Goodman Road in Horn Lake.
…brick red trailer blends in with the BP Circle K gas station on the property.

You’ll like them, Jill. And, yes, it is the same group in both locations.

There is a new Cajun take-away place at Quince and Perkins which offers good Cajun food (crawfish, shrimp, etc.). The family that owns it is very nice and has roots in Baton Rouge, LA.

Mardis Gras Seafood is the place that Mudbug is referring to. Open 11:30 til 8 Monday through Saturday and 1:00 PM til 8 on Sunday. Crawfish are well spiced and served with corn, potatoes and sausage. They have a regular menu of Cajun foods, i.e. red beans and rice, etoufee. Mike, the owner, intends to do blue crabs during the season.

I can hardly wait for crab season at Mardi Gras. Thanks for the tip. Having lived in Baton Rouge for six years, I have fond memories of the piles of steaming blues on newspaper-spread tables next to the ice cold Dixie beer.
I’ve been having crqafish boils for years since moving to Memphis. We’ve always found them at wholesale food suppliers, most recently American Seafood on Getwell and Off the Dock on Southern.

Does this Mardis Gras sell crawfish by the lb to go or do you eat them there? What is the price per lb? The way it was discribed it sounds like a take out place. Does anyone have a number to contact them?

Crawfish etoufee is great with a nice back bite. Boudin balls are also great.
