This is spill-over from another post, but it’s a good one to have stand on its own. Let’s post corkage fees for restaurants here. Kristi posted that Saigon Le and Guadalupana don’t have fees, and I added that Lou’s Pizza Pie doesn’t, either (you can also take beer in).
Pete and Sam’s charges $2.50 per glass, so it’s $5 if two people are drinking wine, $10 for four and so on. And at Interim it’s $8, which is great.
Post ‘em here.

Jennifer & I have already talked about this, but I wanted to pass along my experience at Pete and Sam’s. I was with a large group for my class reunion and I was the designated driver, so I refused a wine glass when it was offered. The people at my table saw and heard me tell the server I wasn’t drinking. When I was given my check, it had “WG” written on it beside $2.50. I asked what that was and she said “wine glass.” Tax and tip were added on top of it as well due to being part of a group. I reminded her that I had specifically declined the glass and asked politely to have the charge removed. She apologized and did so immediately, refiguring the tax and tip. It wasn’t that much and nobody would have had a problem if we had known on the front end, but nothing was said when reservations were made.

Is 5 Spot behind Earnestine & Hazel’s still open? They don’t charge a corkage fee if they are. Cayenne Moon downtown doesn’t either.

Jarretts is $10 and Interim is indeed $8 and since I work at both (until I can find a 9-5 job) I can tell you that if you are in the service industry or a regular then you probably won’t be charged that corkage fee when you eat there. That goes for alot of places I’ve been around too.

Ryan’s right about that. If you regularly take your own wine to a fine dining restaurant, it may happen that eventually you won’t be charged a corkage fee. But certain courtesies must be observed. Never take a bottle that’s already on the wine list. If you take one bottle, buy a bottle of the other color (I generally take red and buy white.) Offer the chef or owner of the restaurant a class of wine, especially if it’s something special. Remember that the waiter is still opening and pouring your wine, so tip accordingly.

Cristen,
The food at Dino’s should be free as well, esp. at breakfast. Gad that joint needs a steam cleaning bad. Cayenne Moon does not charge and the atmosphere is kinda cool, ask for the specials if you go.
