First Bite at Tsunami

I had a lovely little lunch at Tsunami today. Although it just opened for lunch this week, it was still about half-full when I got there after 12:30. I’ve always liked Tsunami and I think lunch is going to be a success.

We had the Tsunami style oyster po’ boy with Asian slaw and curry aioli, the grilled chicken pita with harissa, the black bean soup with smoked chile cream and the squash and sage soup. The black bean soup was OK (a little bland), but everything else was just fantastic. The fried oysters were perfectly fried–so crisp, but with a substantial enough coating to give them body and staying power in the sandwich–and someone’s got to tell me where that bread comes from…

Even still, I think I preferred the chicken pita. I love harissa, and this version was especially good, thanks to a generous hand with the cumin.

I think Tsunami picked an excellent time to start opening for lunch when it should be getting cooler (soon, please!) People are going to enjoy nice soups & other comforting foods more than ever, & I wish them much success. I have been pointing out the cute metal sculptures on both sides of the railroad trestle across Cooper just north of there to all my guests. One of them asked me for a picture, which I plan to make for her as soon as I get a chance. Does anybody know of a website or place where there are pictures already available, like on a brochure?

those ‘cute little metal sculptures’ indicate the entrance to the cooper-young neighborhood.
i beleive the cooper-young community association can provide you with some art as well as identification of the neighborhood buildings which are portrayed in the sculprure.

cooper-young RULES!!

Are those what you are referring to Carole? The sculptures at Peabody Park?
