Did anyone go to Circa’s food and wine pairing last Wednesday? It was sold out so I couldn’t go. I was curious to know how it went. What did they pour? How was the food? Did the pairings work together?

I went and it was lovely–appetizer-sized servings.
The only problem was that some people were late and they started late.

I mean to say that the appetizer-sized servings were paired perfectly with the chosen wines. The sommelier appears to be very experienced in wine and food pairings. He also is not so pretentious about his knowledge and appreciation of wine.
Any other good wine lists in Memphis? I haven’t found anything as interesting. They all seem the same.

In my opinion, Napa Cafe in the Sanderlin Center has one of the best wine lists in town. They truly love wine there and it shows in their unique and interesting choices. Also, their markup on the wines is very reasonable. Same with Blue Fish in Cooper-Young, very good selection at reasonable prices. Majestic Grille is about to change their wine list and I’m very excited to see what they’ll have.
