Seattle might be justifiably famous for its coffee scene, but today Claire and I had the most wonderful hot chocolate… at Dilettante’s in Westlake Center downtown… waiting out a rainstorm.
This mocha hot spot had half a dozen options including extra dark, white chocolate, milk chocolate, Viennese and Mexican cocoa. One of each, please. I ordered the house special, which has a little caramel. Oh, yeah.
Claire got whipped cream on hers and the barista (oh, or is it a cocoa-ista?) put blue sprinkles on top… “for the Seahawks”… mmmmm, the Hawks’ deflated defensive line might want to hoist one of these to prepare for the playoff game this weekend.

Those cocoa concoctions sound delish…but I think the best hot cocoa has Butterscotch Schnapps in it!!

I’m not a coffee drinker, but hubby is, so I’ve tried the hot chocolate in every coffee place in town . . . that one sounds delightful!

Sounds delicious. Leslie, you might want to try this place out while in Seattle: http://www.seriouseats.com/2007/01/eggs_benedict_arnold.html.
Reported to have the best Eggs Benedict in Seattle. Anyone know who serves good Eggs Benedict here in Memphis? You know with actual poached eggs, toasted English muffin, etc. Most versions I have had are mediocre at best.

Neil, I can tell you where NOT to have Eggs Benedict - Blue Plate Cafe on Stage. Unless they have changed, they used a horrible Hollandaise sauce that tasted like powdered mix & ruined the dish. I tried to go to Brother Juniper’s for breakfast w/friends the wk. after Christmas. Unfortunately, the organizer of our group didn’t phone ahead & picked a day when they were closed for the holidays. We ended up at Barksdale Cafe instead, but I don’t recall whether or not they had Eggs Benedict. I would think the better hotels & restaurants that serve Sunday brunch would make their own Hollandaise from scratch, but haven’t been to brunch at The Peabody or Owen Brennan’s recently. Does anybody know if The Cupboard has started serving breakfast yet, as they claimed they were planning on doing?
