One of the best scenes in one of my favorite holiday movies was when the family had to eat Christmas dinner at a Chinese restaurant because the @#%$%-ing Bumpus dogs ate the family turkey… (trivia question: first person to correctly name that film, I’ll send you a treat…)
Aside from hotels, there aren’t a lot of options for dining out on December 25… Neils will be open from 11 a.m. until 3 the following morning, serving ham, dressing, potatoes & gravy, corn, green beans, English peas, cranberries & rolls all for only $8.95.
Anywhere else serving up the holiday meal?

What really makes that scene funny is how the Chinese restaurant served the duck. Head and feet still attached.

“The heavenly aroma still hung in the house. But it was gone, all gone! No turkey! No turkey sandwiches! No turkey salad! No turkey gravy! Turkey Hash! Turkey A La King! Or gallons of turkey soup! Gone, ALL GONE!”
Can you tell how many times I’ve watched A Christmas story? My family has adopted the tradition of heading out for Chinese on Christmas night. I’m not a really big fan of turkey anyway, so having it once is plenty and I’m ready for something else by dinner time.

Zinnie’s opens on Christmas afternoon and has been for me and my friends a welcome relief from the whole family/Christmas merry-go-round.
Leslie, I’m going to miss your blog!

A Christmas Story is the only Holiday movie I ever watch.
And the marathon just about makes me want to stick my tongue on a flag pole! (Speaking of which - did anyone see the kid on the Today Show who dressed as that kid with his tongue stuck on the pole for Halloween? Hilarious!)
Mr. Parker: Fra-gee-lay. That must be Italian.
Mrs. Parker: Uh, I think that says FRAGILE, dear.
Mr. Parker: Oh, yeah.
My mom and I are eating at Grill 83 for Christmas Eve dinner - we used to eat at The Peabody every year but went to Capriccio for Thanksgiving and were rather disappointed in the holiday fare they served. Atfer seeing Koeppel’s recent review of Grill 83 we are rather ramped up about going this weekend! We are staying in for lasagne on Christmas Day…

Has anybody noticed they are selling those fishnet stocking-clad woman’s leg lamps in stores this year
That movie is always good for a chuckle! Isn’t nostalgia a wonderful thing?! I also love the holiday movie “The Christmas List,” which I haven’t caught yet. Maybe it’ll be part of the marathon. I watched & enjoyed “White Christmas” again on Thanksgiving wk-end.

The Peabody is doing a Christmas Day brunch from 10 to 2pm (Monday). They are skipping the Sunday brunch this week, which would fall on Dec. 24. $39.95 per person.

The C&Y Chinese Restaurant on St. Clair in Cleveland, OH is still open. My daughter works in Cleveland and recently had lunch there. She was surprised to learn this is the restaurant in the movie. “A Christmas Story” is her favorite and we watch and laugh every year.

Marena’s on Overton Park is open for dinner Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. If the last couple of years are anything to go by, their chef will have some very tasty seafood and Italian fare on a special holiday menu. Save room for the brandied poached pear for dessert!

It was a christmas story. Tell me if I was right. I would like to win something, since I haven’t won anything since my wreck. But in that movie, the fight scene was pretty enspiring.
