For lack of another topic to add to, I picked this one. I had been seeing magazine ads for cranberry goat cheese & it sounded like something I would enjoy. While browsing at Easy Way on Cooper, what should I spy but Crandale, which is described as Wensleydale cheese with cranberries. It is a somewhat crumbly white cheese with dried cranberries, which was described on the internet as Wallace & Gromit’s favorite (their pictures appear on some of the labels for certain brands, but not the Easy Way variety). It is made from either cow or sheep’s milk in the UK & distributed in NJ. Easy Way offered it for $6.99/lb. & they had various size wedges cut & pre-packaged. I bought the smallest pkg. to try, & would definitely buy more because I liked the flavor. I would think it would be better crumbled over salad than spread on crackers, as I attempted to do & made a mess. Anyway, it’s pretty for the holidays & I thought somebody else might be interested in serving it for Thanksgiving.

There are a lot of places that cook, here are the ones I have used.

Backyard BBQ in Jackson TN will smoke the turkey you purchase (yourself) at the grocery. Backyard will charge 75 cents a pound. The only thing is that you have to supply the turkey thawed. Its probably the most budget way to cook a turkey (granted you find the turkey at a good price in the gocery). 731-424-7640

Cajun Cookers World Champion BBQ, a local restaurant in Jackson, sells “Smoked Butter Honey” Turkey breast (28.00), smoked ham 5-6 pound (28.00). They also have a 10 person serving dinner for 89.00 (The dinner includes Breast or Ham, Dressing, Gravy, Sweet Potato with Pecan crust, Green beans, Cream Corn, and Rolls). Cajun Smokers has two deserts for sale Pumpkin Cheesecake and their Ding Dong Cake. November 20th is their deadline (731-668-1571). Last year we bought the Smokes Ham and we plan on buyiing it again. I rate their Smoked Ham as the best flavored one!

Reggi’s in Jackson smokes Turkeys 731-660-8600. He is a veryu popular choice, and (because of his popularity) Reggie has an early order deadline and an absolute limit to the number of turkeys he smokes. So get that order in to him A-S-A-P.

Hays Smokehouse in Lexington also smokes Turkeys (731) 967-3222. He is open special for pickup of the items.
