Associated Press story just appeared announcing that KFC is switching out its partially hydrogenated soybean oil… maybe the beginning of a trend?
Wendy’s has done it, McDonald’s has not, according to the report.
Non-sequiter: Read a funny recipe in a new book “Good Grits” for bacon ice cream… yum!

Hopefully, it does start a trend. KFC claims it won’t affect the flavor of the chicken (though I’m not a big fan as it is), so if that’s true, it should pave the way for other companies.
It’s scary how much trans fats we eat.

That is GREAT news!! I’d be even more impressed if they ever actually had chicken to sell. I’ve lived near the Summer Ave location for almost three years and the few times that I’ve gone to the drive thru I’m told it will be 10-15 minutes before the chicken is ready. I love hot, fried chicken but how can a chicken joint run out of prepared chicken??

KFC’s drive-thru on Union is one of the slowest in the city. I have also been pretty upset with them since Halloween two yrs. ago when my chicken pot pie had a chicken thigh bone in it. Trick or treat (yuck!) I’d rather go to Mrs. Winners, Church’s, or Jack Pirtle anyway.
