Decisions, decisions

Went to Cozy Corner for lunch today, determined to try something different… I’ve been hooked on the wings. The line was Friday long, so I had time to study the menu. Maybe the brisket? Or the chicken dinner? Those ribs sure looked good.

I must have changed my mind a half a dozen times by the time I got to the counter. But when resident pitmaster Richard opened the cooker up, those wings just looked so good, I had to switch it up again. I’m happy I did, despite being the messiest lunch around.

When you have more time to consider your options is it a help or a hinderance?

By the way… turns out Stevie Wonder did not eat at the Cozy while in Memphis. Wonder where he did dine???

I usually can’t make up my mind til everyone at the table has ordered and then I decide at the last minute.

But what I REALLY wanted to tell you, Leslie, was this: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1558,2042584,00.asp?kc=ETRSS02129TX1K0000532.
I kid you not–fried Coke.

The answer for me is to go out to eat with people who don’t mind sharing & then you get to try some of whatever you want :-) I normally like to try what’s different, but there are some places I just don’t stray from the tried & true. If I had been at Cozy Corner, I would have gone for the Cornish game hen if they’d had them.

My problem is that I go in somewhere craving a certain thing and even though I, like you, change my mind multiple times, I always end up with the same thing. I wish more places offered “sample plates”, where you could get small portions of a couple of menu options.

Shannon, I feel the same way. I also like restaurants that offer half orders of things so people can enjoy appetizers & desserts without feeling stuffed afterwards. I nearly always order a sampler plate when I try a place that offers that on their menu. Has anyone been to Crumpet’s? They have a sampler plate on their menu that sounds really good but I haven’t made it there yet.

Speaking of Cozy Corner, that is a great place to order a Thanksgiving turkey if you’re not inclined to cook one at home. They won’t take orders over the phone. You have to go there and pay with cash in advance. They called it barbecued turkey but it tastes a lot like smoked ham.
