Thanks to Jim Baymiller, who passed along today’s entertaining food trivia: Today’s the anniversary of the Buffalo chicken wing, created, so the legend goes to feed hungry patrons at the Anchor Bar (pictured below…), but another version goes that these red hot snacks were thrown together as a midnight snack for the owner’s son. (I’m willing to believe both versions, though it seems a little unlikely a blizzard would hit Buffalo on Oct. 3… oh, wait, what am I saying, of course a blizzard could hit Buffalo in October…)
Well, wings sure have taken off… sorry, couldn’t resist… I might venture a guess that there are more wing joints in Memphis than in the Buffalo wing center of the universe… I was sure a skeptic when I landed here, but am now a wing nut… (help, somebody, I need a pun intervention!!)
Where’s your favorite wing spot? I’ll start the salute with Cozy Corner and All About Dem Wangs on Elvis Presley…

The best wings I have had anywhere in town are at Molly’s on Madison - knock your socks off hot and meaty! Used to like D’Bo’s but have not had any from them in years since I started ordering them at Molly’s.

The Wing Shop on Winchester next to the Blockbuster’s and the giant “statue of Liberty through Christ” has my vote. First time I went there, I was renting movies and the smell just sucked me through the door. Run by the nicest man you’d ever hope to meet, Billy Toler, and his sons. I think he runs the place because he likes to talk. Try the Jamaican Jerk. And don’t forget fried okra.

Last year I had Anchor Bar wings shipped to my house as a surprise for my wife’s birthday.
I have to say, even shipped, the Anchor Bar’s wings are goood!

A place up here in Jackson, Reggi Wings is the best local place.
I had wings at Logans Roadhouse the other day, and they were even good.
There used to be a Pizza Inn in Jackson on Stonebridge that had wings, and I hate that they closed it. The Pizza Inn really had the best wings.
We have a place down the street that I want to try. It Wash-n-Wings. No joke, its in Jackson TN. Its a laundromat that sells hot wings. Everybody raves about the wings, but I just cant get into going to a laundromat to eat.

All Star Wings, sadly no more on Cleveland, & also Ching’s Wings on Getwell. I had some for lunch today, as a matter of fact. They also serve little croissants with theirs instead of dinner rolls.
