It blows my mind that it’s been a year since Katrina… in today’s story in the Commercial Appeal I talked to several transplants working in Memphis area restaurants, making our city a better place.
I’m sure there are many more tales to tell… please add yours in the comments below.

Our first experience with food folk up from New Orleans was at Encore. We could immediately tell that our server, Shaddow, ain’t from around here. He and his lovely wife Claire both exhibit grace, warmth, and charm that is so refreshing. Not that we need more than the food to get us back to Encore, but when we do return, we’ll be looking for one of them.
We’ve been dying to go to the Inn at Hunt Phelan. Now you have that desire kicked into overdrive.

I also saw the article about the family traveling with the vegan son. I like to think I’m a pretty open-minded person, but I don’t understand these people. Who would voluntarily deny themselves any meat products? Who could just sit there and watch people eat barbeque while he just pokes at lettuce? If the doctor told me that I had to be a vegan to survive, I’d go ahead and kill myself with meat.

I’m with Todd - too much good carnivore fare out there to go vegan. Is the guy from New Orleans who was cooking at Elfo’s still in town?
