Neely’s BBQ featured on Food Network

Patrick and Gina Neely, along with brother Gaelin (far left) are going to be featured on “Road Tasted” a new series starring Paula Deen’s sons, Bobby and Jamie. They visited the Neely’s restaurant in Nashville… the segment airs at 9 on Tuesday and Wednesday, and is repeated Sunday and Monday.

Also heard that Neely’s is going to be hands-on at this year’s Grizzlies games… no more serving out of every concesssion, so they can have better quality control. Stay tuned for details…

Those barbeque nachos at the FedExForum were giving them a bad name. It’s hard to find bad barbeque in Memphis, but the FedExForum had it.

Unlike 99% of the nashville places, at least they serve REAL BBQ! I don’t know what I would do if Neelys didn’t have that Metrocenter Location. I couldnt take another Whitt’s or BBCutie with relish onion tomato on the the pork Q sandwich.

Are all of you sure Nashville is on the south? Its a crazy place to order Q!

When did Nashville steal our title as barbecue capital? I am glad to see the Neely’s get national recognition, but the Nashville store? Is the Deen boys’ show produced by the same nuts who run Cheap Tickets?

I haven’t yet had the pleasure of enjoying the culinary scene in Nashville, but I find it telling that the Food Network chose to feature a chain of a Memphis restaurant on its show about Nashville.

On a side note, I had possibly the best ever Italian hoagie today from Pete’s Heavenly Hoagie. It’s called the Atomic Italian and is loaded with spicy meats and fresh lettuce and tomato.

I watched the segmant last night and enjoyed it. The Neelys came across as accomplished and gracious hosts.

Been to Whitt’s in Nashville - yuck - vinegar sauce. Carl’s is OK, but, never get the same meal twice. Good once, then horrible the next time. Never been to Neely’s, but, Interstate (Jim Neely) in Memphis is the best bbq in the world. Will try Neely’s next time I go home to get bbq (Memphis, not Nashville).

Caught the Deen boys Sat. afternoon - was thinking how cordial & gracious Patrick Neely was. But I kept waiting for him to say that the “original” Neely’s is in Memphis. If he said it, I missed it, & I was mighty disappointed. I kept hearing Bobby & Jamie referring to “TN BBQ” & I wanted to jump thru the screen & tell them to keep on truckin’ west…still have hopes they’ll show up w/Paula when she’s here for the Mid-South Fair.
