Where’s the (grass-fed) beef?

I’m reading “Omnivore’s Dilemma”… a fascinating look at the way certain foods have shaped this country and the way we eat. One of the biggest eye-openers for a city girl like me? Cattle are not meant to eat corn! We have been brainwashed! The corn-fed come-on is the most brilliant bilk ever!! It was rolled out so the nation’s excess corn could be sold.

I’m starting the search right now for grass-fed beef… I used to see it at Super Target. Any place else carry it? I’ve just placed an order online for dry-aged sirloin steaks at americangrassfedbeef.com, and will give you a juicy report as soon as the package arrive.

Speaking of packages from heaven, my dear friend Holly sent me a gift from the Oregon Coast’s best smokehouse, Karla’s. I’m drooling over smoked halibut, smoked albacore tuna, smoked line-caught salmon.

Anyway, for anyone passionate about food, I’m highly recommending you pick up a copy of Michael Polland’s book… “Omnivore’s Dilemma”…
