The week is off to a good start…

… with lunch at Soul Fish Cafe on Cooper. Reviewed it a while back, click here for the link.

The wonderful smoked chicken might be the best ever use for that bird… well, aside from fried chicken. Which reminds me… I watched some of the Julia Child’s French Chef shows on DVD, including one on chicken and kept waiting for her to drop it.

Maybe that’s an urban legend? Does anybody remember her actually dropping a chicken? Or was that just part of the Saturday Night Live skit??

Neil

Leslie, from NPR:

Fans who relish her style remember in particular that she dropped a chicken or a large slab of fish on the floor. Child denies it in an interview in Marilyn Mellowes’ “Julia! America’s Favorite Chef,” an American Masters bio that aired last week on PBS, though she admits that parts of a potato pancake got out of control. The program captures her subsequent, immortal ad-lib, “You can always pick it up. . . . You’re alone in the kitchen, who is going to see?”
