Merry Christmas everyone!

I’m off for a few days, going to fly to LA to see my sissy… eating lots of Mexican food and sit on the beach…

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday… I’ll be back with lots of eating adventures from the left coast… See you in 2006!

Hope you have a super trip to LA, Leslie. I really enjoyed yours & Fredric’s “best of” list in the Friday Playbook.

Enjoy the great Mexican. Today I tried the new Mexican restaurant downtown on Adams between Main and Front. It’s called Sgt. Jalapeno’s. It is run by a family transplanted here from Texas. The owner told that it was in fact “Tex-Mex,” not Mexican. Anyway, the food is some of the best Tex-Mex in town. They make all their own tortillas, which were the best part of the Tacos Al Carbon that I tried. The included bean soup on the side had a smoky flavor, as it was season with bits of meat. The interior is definitely no-frills, but the service is good, the food is tasty, and the prices are decent. They also have homemade tamales, but you must order them well in advance. I’d definitely add it to your list of places to review, as I am sure that this family could use the business it would provide.

Merry Christmas, Leslie!

I hope you find the ultimate Taco, find some great Chinese, and at least get a pizza with sun-dried tomato from California Pizza Kitchen out there.
