Some bacon for under the tree?

Just got The Grateful Palate gift guide… and found quite a few things for my list: The BLT scented candles, the soap shaped like bacon… but tops on the giggle meter… bacon brittle!! Yup, brought to you by the same guy who makes bacon ice cream.

You can look at this stuff online by clicking here

What edible goodie and/or kitchen gadget would you like to find under the tree?

I’m asking for a new small (3 cup) Bodum coffee press. My daughter accidentally broke mine and rather than just throwing away the glass (which could have been replaced I’ve learned) threw away all the parts. Does anyone know where we might shop for this locally? I originally bought it at Gloria Jeans in Germantown, but that place is now sadly gone (replaced by another clothing store - just what Saddle Creek needs! But I digress…)

My xmas wish is for a total overhaul of Tennessee’s seriously antiquated alcohol laws. I had an extremely tasty zinfindel port at a friend’s dinner party - she hand carried it back from California the week before. But can we order it on the web and shipped to TN?? NO. Can we buy wine and beer in the same store?? NO. If you are grocery shopping Sunday morning (a great time to grocery shop, by the way) can you take care of your beer needs for the week?? NO. It’s just stupid. Grrr.

Julie,
I am attaching a link to a coffee press at Target. I hope this help. If you can’t open this go to Target online and type in coffee press.

Thak you Kevin - this is exactly what I was looking for. Your reply is thoughtful and totally in the “Christmas spirit”!

I agree that the liquor laws need a major overhaul. I love going to Louisiana where you can pick up your favorite liquor in the gas station on in the grocery store. Then even have Beam and Coke in cans in gas stations. I haven’t tried it, though. Whenever a group of us are going down to New Orleans, we always stop at the University Ave. exit in Hammond and pick up some daquiris at the drive-thru daquiri bar (for the passengers, of course). On Tuesdays and Thursdays, its two for one!

I’ll take anything from the World Market ad in the Sunday paper, especially all the cute Scottie cookies & stuff. That store looks wonderful. I haven’t been yet because I figured they were probably a zoo the wk. before Christmas. But after Christmas I am definitely going, & hoping to pick up some bargains while I’m there.

Oops - hit send too quickly. No Sluggo, you are SO RIGHT about the archaic liquor laws in this state, not to mention how much we have to PAY for the stuff! It costs more to buy Jack Daniel whiskey in TN than just about anywhere in the continental United States, & it’s distilled here! How unfair is THAT?!
