“How do you do it?”

That’s kind of a running joke in our family, something my sister used to ask me when I put a plate of something in front of her. I love to cook for people who appreciate it. My nephew Nick used to chow down and say: “Aunt Leslie, you’ve hit my yum button!”

So, last night I made jambalaya… using a rice mix I picked up in Cajun country (near LaPlace, La.)… It had been languishing in my cupboard since last fall, forgotten. But when it was too dang hot to go outside this weekend, I got ambitious and cleaned out my pantry… found some good stuff and filled a bag of stuff for the Food Bank.

Just discovered something cool about the Memphis Food Bank… they have a virtual food drive on the official Web site. So, if you don’t have time to run by and drop off, you can donate in the same amount of time it takes to order a pair of shoes on zappos.com. Do it! It will make you feel good.

Leslie, it might be worth mentioning this info again in light of Katrina;s devastation and refugees. That is if our local food bank is involved at this level. People will want to give, but maybe not know where to do so, links are very helpful too!
